One of the many blessings we’ve experienced since moving to Northern Kentucky to establish the Christian Church Leadership Center is the relationships we’ve developed with other ministries in the region.
One of those ministries is GO Pantry (gopantry.org) a non-profit, faith-based ministry in Florence that provides food for undernourished school children during school breaks and on weekends. They currently serve more than 650 kids in Northern Kentucky school systems. GO Pantry had its beginnings in a small group that met through First Church of Christ in Burlington, Kentucky. Former First Church minister LD Campbell serves as the ministry’s chaplain.
As we began to shelve books in the Elliott Library, we considered ways to repurpose our empty book boxes for ministry. That led us to a discussion with the directors of GO Pantry. To our delight, we discovered that our boxes were the perfect size for their food distribution ministry. Through this connection, we went to work breaking down the empty boxes and stacking them on pallets. The pallets were then picked up by another local partner ministry, Master Provisions, and delivered to the GO pantry warehouse.
As we continue to shelve books in the Elliott Library, we will continue to provide boxes to bless the work of GO Pantry. We’re thankful to God for the many ways he has allowed us to serve the local church and to bless others who serve in Christ’s name.
